Q: What is the sign up process like?
A: It's simple! Click 'Choose My healthPERX Plan' and select one of the packages. Enter your contact and payment information to start your monthly membership benefits. You will receive an introductory membership kit with information about each of your benefits in the mail, usually within 3 business days. Once you receive your kit, which includes your membership number and card, you will have full access to your benefits and can create an online account with your medical/health history. (Health history can also be given over the phone if internet is not accessible or preferred.)
Q: Who is covered on a healthPERX plan?
A: You, your spouse or significant other, and your children under age 26.
Q: Is there an additional cost for these family members?
A: No, there is no additional cost to include your spouse/significant other, and/or children under the age of 26.
Q: Do I speak with real doctors when using Teladoc?
A: Yes! You will be speaking with U.S. board-certified internists, family doctors, and pediatricians all licensed to practice medicine in the United States.
Q: Can I use Teladoc when I travel?
A: While Teladoc is not available outside the U.S., you can call anytime you are traveling within the U.S. and Teladoc will connect you with a doctor in whichever state you are visiting.
Q: Does healthPERX keep my medical information private?
A: Yes! HealthPERX uses robust encryption methods to protect your personal information. You determine who can see your medical information in your account settings.
Q: How are prescriptions sent to the pharmacy?
A: HealthPERX does not dispense prescription drugs, but if medication is prescribed, the order is sent electronically or by phone to your pharmacy.
Q: What are some of the common issues I can use healthPERX/Teladoc for?
A: Common conditions include sinus problems, respiratory infections, allergies, UTI's, cold and flu symptoms, and many other non-emergency illnesses.
Q: What about emergency situations?
A: HealthPERX/Teladoc are only designed to handle non-emergency situations and should not be used for emergency medical care.
Q: Can I request a particular doctor with Teladoc?
A: No, Teladoc is designed to support and augment your relationship with your existing doctor. Specific doctors are not guaranteed when members call in to Teladoc, but all physicians are highly qualified and credentialed.
Q: Will I get a prescription when I speak with the doctor?
A: Teladoc/HealthPERX do not guarantee prescriptions. Teladoc doctors do not issue prescriptions for substances controlled by the DEA, non-therapeutic and/or certain other drugs which may be harmful because of their potential for abuse. These include, but are not limited to, antidepressant drugs such as Cymbalta, Prozac and Zoloft. Based on treatment protocols, doctors may not prescribe an antibiotic for viral illnesses such as most colds, sore throats, coughs, sinus infections and the flu. Doctors may suggest alternative treatment options such as a prescription for symptom relief or over-the-counter medication. Also, non-therapeutic drugs such as Viagra and Cialis are not prescribed by Teladoc.
Q: What if I want to cancel my membership?
A: You can cancel your membership at anytime by simply signing into your account at www.mybenefitswork.com, finding the membership settings in your profile tab, and selecting "Cancel Membership."
